On behalf of all thoroughbred breeders in Australia, I wish to welcome everyone who is attending the 2008 International Breeders Meeting in Melbourne in March 2008.
Many people will be flying in from overseas to our very distant continent and there will be various delegates from Australia also attending.
Last year, I retired as President and as a Director of Thoroughbred Breeders Australia and my successor, John Messara, has had a most difficult opening months because of the outbreak of Equine Influenza in Australia and the resulting problems involving the 2007 stud season and the 2008 yearling sales. I am delighted that John will be attending his first IBM as the chief Australian delegate.
I am sure that the problems of the EI in Australia will be discussed widely as well as the normal full range of breeding and racing issues.
The Victorian Breeders Association are acting on behalf of Thoroughbred Breeders Australia as hosts for the meeting and their President, Mike Becker and their executive officer, Richard Andrews will be always on hand to welcome and assist visitors.
This web site contains details of the five days in Melbourne and will be regularly updated with information and photos. I hope it will be a lasting memory of the event
We are most grateful to various organisations for their assistance during this meeting especially the Victorian Government, Racing Victoria, William Inglis, Swettenham Stud and Darley Stud.
For me personally, it will be a wonderful conclusion to a life time of racing and breeding which has been highlighted by the love of so many beautiful thoroughbreds and the meeting of many interesting, diverse and enjoyable people both in Australia and abroad.
I hope that everyone attending the IBM will be able to receive a very large dose of knowledge, friendship and happiness achieved by joining together in this 2008 Australian meeting.

With best wishes
